The TTA is working very hard behind the scenes to provide members with as much credible and useful information as possible and are channeling member information and requests to local, provincial and national government proactively, to both help our government fight COVID-19 in South Africa, and to find opportunities for you to put your businesses to good use at this time and save jobs.
Most recently we have submitted information on accommodation availability to Gauteng Government, National Department of Health and to the RMB Aspire/Ubuntu bed initiative. We have also submitted the results of a survey of restaurants under cover of a request that the data be used to inform the sustainable use and re-opening of restaurants to best assist our restaurant sector.
How can I receive free sector representation as a restaurant?
Dear Restaurateur,
It is a disastrous time for many. South African restaurants must form a united front!
It is time to band together, under an officially constituted and recognised umbrella association, to share our questions, concerns and solutions with national government, and invite a response on issues affecting our industry.
The Tshwane Tourism Association* (TTA) have mobilised our infrastructure to become the first non profit body representing the restaurant sector in South Africa and we are prepared to:
- take your concerns to national government and receive a response;
- address the concerns of the broader restaurant industry in response to the national lockdown, the related regulations and government relief funds, and the process of re-opening after restrictions are lifted.
We ask no membership fee, only that you complete the form below:
I am a non-member - do you offer a free three month membership?
Non-members are welcome to apply for three months free membership to the TTA.
How do I participate in #SaveSARestaurants?
The TTA is collating information on the state of readiness of restaurants to reopen, and the effect that any potential restrictions may have on restaurants upon reopening, to submit to National Government to inform their decision making.
Kindly complete our online form to participate in this initiative and ensure that our restaurants are supported to reopen in a sustainable manner.
How do I share my business status during lockdown?
We are updating our database with the business status of all tourism businesses (not just those of TTA members) to be available for government should they ask for our assistance at short notice. Kindly notify us, by email to secretary@tshwanetourism.com regarding whether your business is (please include business name and type):
- open and in use for/classified as essential services
- nominated as a quarantine facility/service
- operational and housing stranded guests
- closed and empty
Thank you for your assistance as we continue to try and assist our country in this regard.
Although so much is out of our control with this pandemic, our future is still in our hands and we can be instrumental in shaping the outcomes of this situation. Please continue to participate in calls for information and, most importantly, send us (secretary@tshwanetourism.com) proposals of any initiatives which you feel might be beneficial to both our community and your businesses or sector – we are here to help you implement feasible proposals and communicate your needs to the various levels of government.
