DMSA Mampoer Festival on 1 June 2019
Ditsong: Museums of South Africa (DMSA) will be hosting a Mampoer Festival at the Willem Prinsloo Agricultural Museum from 09:00 – 16:30 on Saturday, 1 June 2019.
DMSA is a custodian of the national heritage in cultural history, natural and military history. The museum distills Mampoer (liquor and witblits), through traditional distilling methods and aims to preserve this national heritage for generations to come.
Visitors can enjoy a variety of Mampoer, witblits, and liquors for sale at the festival. Furthermore, they will be treated to a demonstration of traditional Mampoer distillation. There will be a flea market with approximately 130 stalls, a beer garden, agricultural implements from the seventeenth century, museum tours, music, and games. Tractor enthusiasts can enjoy a demonstration of veteran tractors, engines, motors and antique cars.
The Cultural Distillers Guild will hold the annual National Distillers Championships at the festival and bring a variety of Mampoer and liqueurs which will be offered for sale.

Antique & Collectables Fair on 17 June 2019
The Voortrekker Monument will be holding an Antique and Collectables Fair on 17 June 2019 from 09:00 to 15:00.
The market takes place on the roof of the large amphitheatre. There are currently 173 stalls which sell a wide variety of goods, from furniture, lamps, and porcelain dolls to jewellery. There will also be food, cake and deli stalls for the hungry.
The entrance fee is R30 per car. There is also parking for disabled people in wheelchairs. Please note that no pets are allowed.

Capital Hotel School has launched a new cookery course
The course at Capital Hotel School covers extraordinary breakfasts, mouth-watering baking, artistic cakes and decorating techniques, bountiful bread and buns and soulful soups, stocks and sauces over a series of five interactive, fun-filled sessions.
Spend one late afternoon/evening a week starting on 4 June 2019 and enhance your cooking skills to a new level using everyday ingredients.
Course dates:
- 04 June – Extraordinary Breakfasts (18:00–21:00)
- 11 June – Bake the World a Better Place (18:00–21:00)
- 25 June – Basic Cakes and Decorating Techniques (15:00–19:00)
- 02 July – Beautiful Breads and Buns (18:00-–21:00)

Cost: R650 per person per session.

TTA Annual General Meeting feedback
TTA members who attended the TTA AGM 20119 enjoyed a full and interesting programme which included the following speakers:
Maryke Dreyer (Business Development Manager for South Africa, STR) talked about consumer travel insights on Pretoria and surroundings.
Daneel Lombard (Managing Director, Olive Insurance Brokers) spoke about why public liability insurance is essential for every business and the pitfalls of not having this critical insurance.
Megan Meas (Marketing Manager, Menlyn Park) updated everyone on the Menlyn Park Tourism Expo planned for 26 to 29 September 2019.
Jabulani Debedu (Senior Consultant in tourism, hospitality and leisure consulting, BDO Advisory Services) shared insights from the latest Tourism Business Index survey.

After the AGM and to end the afternoon’s activities, Diamond X Ranch put on a spectacular and exciting horse show while the sun set and members networked over drinks and snacks.
