Mangwanani Boutique Spa has reopened
The change in COVID-19 regulations at Level 1 has allowed Mangwanani African Spa to reopen its branches nationally. This applies in particular to the two branches in Centurion − Mangwanani Royal Elephant Boutique Spa, located at the Royal Elephant Hotel − and Mangwanani River Valley Traditional Spa, located within the Hennops River Valley on the outskirts of Centurion.
As the branches have slowly been reopening, a strategic decision was taken not to compromise the safety of either the clients or the staff. As such, Mangwanani staff have undergone updated, additional, intensive hygiene and sanitation training, including all the new protocols that are recommended for home, travel, and workplace – as per the most recent international standards. In addition, full training and provision of all PPE has been given, including the use of masks, gloves, and face shields. We have also trained sanitisation specialists for each of our locations. Such specialists are dedicated to the continual, sustained levels of sanitisation and hygiene. This includes sanitising equipment before and after use. More so, we have upgraded all hygiene and sanitation equipment to include fogging sanitisation, hands-free sanitising dispensers, as well as extra masks, gloves, aprons, and hand sanitisers.
We are enormously grateful for the support we have received since we have reopened. We simply could not believe the flood of clients returning to enjoy their spa treats. Therefore, Mangwanani is back, albeit with face masks and shields. Make sure to arrange your corporate wellness event with us, to spoil your loved one with a couples’ massage or a relaxing and much-needed spa day.
We also welcome those who wish to collaborate with Mangwanani in reaching out. You can email jacques@mangwanani.co.za.

Great rates at City Lodge Hotel Group this summer
The City Lodge Hotel Group is delighted to announce its Summer Campaign, just in time for travellers emerging from their homes to shake off cabin fever.
After the success of its Weekend Special rates launched in August 2020, the group is now extending this rate to include all weekdays. From 1 December 2020 to 31 January 2021, the following special rates apply: from R749 per person per night at Town Lodges, R799 at City Lodge Hotels and R999 at Courtyard Hotels. (Offer does not include Road Lodges.)
Chief operating officer Lindiwe Sangweni-Siddo says, “The five public holidays in December and January effectively create several opportunities for a long weekend, to see out 2020 somewhere special or ring in the New Year in new surroundings. As more travellers start to emerge from their homes, we want to welcome them to our hotels around the country for that long-awaited trip. We appreciate that budgets are tight and offer these affordable rates so that our valued guests can start planning their next trip.”
The special is bookable by selecting “A WKND Special” on direct channels only, including the website www.clhg.com, hotels by phone and email, and walk-ins, subject to availability. The rate is per room only, single or double occupancy, and includes VAT and tourism levy. The offer may not be used in conjunction with any other specials or negotiated rates. Rates are net and non-commissionable.
Guests may be reassured that they will continue to stay safe at any City Lodge Hotel Group property. Comprehensive and internationally recognised Covid-19 hygiene and safety protocols are carried out across all properties, including all areas accessed by guests and staff at the front and back of house. A summary of the protocols, including what guests need to know prior to entering the hotel, is provided on the website www.clhg.com.
Lindiwe adds, “Returning guests will be wowed by various new initiatives. We have introduced contactless online check-in and replaced shared menus at our restaurants and bars with QR codes. Our food and beverage offerings have been beefed up with new dishes on the menu, innovative food presentation, draught beer on tap, a range of hearty bar snacks, and pizzas safely served in boxes. In addition, our new environmentally-friendly bathroom amenities, including the Zero hair and body bar, are being rolled out to our hotels as we continue to strip out all single-use plastics in our guest rooms as part of our sustainability journey.”

CLHG still pays 10% commission to agents, TMCs
City Lodge Hotel Group continues to pay 10% commission to IATA-registered travel agents and travel management companies on bookings for all of the group’s hotels, including Fairview Hotel in Kenya, Courtyard Hotels, City Lodge Hotels, Town Lodges and Road Lodges. Paying commission has long been a part of the group’s business culture and helps foster good relationships with travel professionals.
Andrew Widegger, CEO of City Lodge Hotel Group, says, “We have always endeavoured to be the most bookable hotel group, particularly now that we are re-opening more hotels as travel restrictions ease. We know that travel management companies and travel agents have been hard hit by the lockdown and related restrictions and want to reassure them that we value their business and are happy to reward them for continued loyalty.”
Travel agents may book their clients into any of the group’s properties reassured that they would have a safe stay thanks to the internationally recognised COVID-19 hygiene and safety protocols in place. A summary of the protocols, including what guests need to know before entering the hotel, is provided on the website.
