Message from the TTA Chairperson and Board
We wish all TTA members and stakeholders only the best for 2021! We hope the New Year brings hope and energy to address the current situation with renewed vigour. Now, more than ever, it is important for tourism, related industries and all stakeholders to work together in finding ways to respond to the challenges we face.
The TTA Board has plans to build on the lessons learnt during last year and take these plans forward proactively. Among our plans for the new year are promotion of ongoing and improved liaison between the Public and Private Sector. In addition, each TTA board member is responsible for a specific tourism sector and individual sector planning will be integrated with the overall vision of the TTA to rebuild, promote and grow tourism in the city strategically and responsibly.
We look forward to engaging all concerned to take us forward and make a difference in 2021.
Stay safe!

TTA Tourism Showcase
The TTA Tourism Showcase usually takes place annually, in January, and offers activated TTA members a unique opportunity to exhibit their facilities and services as well as to meet suppliers to the tourism industry and network with a range of other tourism businesses and stakeholders.
This year, due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the TTA board is looking at alternative events focusing on the promotion and marketing of TTA members, as well as providing opportunities for members to work together to drive business to our local variety of tourist destinations and focus on local clients to promote local tourism experiences.
We will give further information and details regarding this in our upcoming TTA Members Zoom meeting. Date and time of this meeting will be communicated shortly.

New restaurant opens in Brooklyn, Pretoria
High ceilings, loads of natural light and a fresh warm ambience are the makings of The Grillroom and Sushi Bar, a modern, stylish restaurant which has just opened at Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn in Pretoria. The elegant eatery is perfect for special occasions, romantic dinners and business lunches. The venue is easily accessible, well located and has safe undercover parking within the precinct.
Grillroom and Sushi’s Head Chef, Jamie Sutherland has 36 years cooking experience under his toque with a formidable career that has taken him across kitchens in Europe, Asia and Africa.
Jamie trained as a chef in the United Kingdom and started his career in 1984 in Scotland where he worked for a couple of hotel restaurants before moving to London for the next decade honing his skills at top restaurants.
“I’ve been privileged to travel widely and have vast experience with French, Asian, Middle Eastern and African cuisine. My style of food is modern with classic overtures but the most important ingredient in any dish is passion. I cook with heart and aim to enhance the full flavour of each dish,” says Jamie.
His love for cooking is only paralleled by his love for teaching and mentoring. “I am the sum of the many great chefs I’ve worked under and that same desire to continue learning is what drives me to take junior chefs under my wing and share my knowledge. In teaching you also learn and continue growing.”
