The Tshwane Tourism Showcase 2024 in the Wildest Capital City in the World!
The Tshwane Tourism Showcase, organized by TTA at the CSIR International Convention Centre on 23 January 2024, was a huge success, with over 400 stakeholders from all over Gauteng in attendance
The TTA Chairperson, Nico Rowan. Nico welcomed the delegates and discussed the upcoming Tshwane Guide 2024-5 as well as the rebrand of Tshwane as “The Wildest Capital City in the World”
The keynote address was delivered by Susan Marais, Creative Director of the Pretoria Bucket List and Vice Chairperson of the Tshwane Tourism Association Board.
Susan outlined that our city is a place filled with opportunities to have wild adventures, create wild and wonderful memories and meet wild(ly) interesting people while doing so. It was a reminder of why we love Pretoria, our beautiful city of Tshwane!
The TTA is pleased to have this opportunity to collaborate with the City of Tshwane to continue improving relationships and collaboration between business owners and communities and to foster teamwork, excitement and joy in our city.
She reminded honoured guests including the Executive Mayor of Tshwane and more than 400 representatives from local attractions, international, local and inbound tour operators, travel agencies, embassies and strategic partners; that Tshwane truly is wild. Our city is the only capital in the world with a Big 5 game reserve within its city limits. Dinokeng is unique but we also have nature reserves like Rietvlei, Groenkloof, Wonderboom and Faerie Glen.
She went on to specify wonderful experiences all over our city including adventure, shopping, markets, restaurants, open air venues and accommodation establishments with particular mention of our historic and cultural attractions in and around the city and the city centre as well as encouraging visitors to support the “local best kept secrets” in your particular suburb or area.
The Executive Mayor enthusiastically supported the brand and has subsequently been endorsing it at other engagements across our city.
The TTA rebrand of Tshwane as THE WILDEST CAPITAL CITY IN THE WORLD will include the following main events this year:
- The Annual TSHWANE TOURISM SHOWCASE (done on 23 January 2024 at the CSIR International Convention Centre)
- The first issue of the TSHWANE GUIDE which is produced by the TTA team and will be available soon at all major tourist information points across our city and South Africa.
- The TSHWANE TOURISM AWARDS which will debut later this year as an opportunity for stakeholders to engage, collaborate and grow relationships at a formal event honouring our industry.
The Tshwane Tourism Association is excited about renewed enthusiasm about our city and what we have to offer to local and inbound visitors. We can be proud that the residents of this city are some of the most resilient people in the world who always continue building, helping, growing and moving forward.

Adventure Zone : Embracing a Promising Start to the New Year
As we stand on the threshold of a brand new year, Adventure Zone is filled with a sense of optimism and excitement for the opportunities that lie ahead. The arrival of a new year is not just a change in the calendar; it’s an invitation to embrace fresh beginnings and set the stage for success.
This year, let us recognize the immense value of an early start. Just as the early bird catches the worm, an early and proactive approach to our goals can pave the way for greater achievements. As we embark on this journey together, let’s make a collective commitment to make the most of every moment and to be intentional about our actions.
One aspect that deserves our immediate attention is the importance of team building early in the year. A strong, cohesive team forms the backbone of any successful endeavor. By investing time and effort in building strong interpersonal connections from the outset, we create a foundation of trust, communication, and collaboration that will serve us well throughout the year.
Team building is not just a one-time event; it’s an ongoing process that enhances our collective capabilities. Early engagement in team-building activities fosters a positive and inclusive work culture, breaking down barriers and creating an environment where each team member feels valued and heard.
As we dive into the challenges and triumphs that the new year holds, let us remember that our success is intricately linked to the strength of our collaboration. By building a strong team early on, we fortify ourselves against the uncertainties that may come our way.
I am excited about the journey that awaits us in the coming year. Let us embark on it with enthusiasm, dedication, and a shared commitment to each other’s success. Together, we can turn the possibilities of the new year into remarkable realities.
Wishing you all a fantastic start to the year ahead!
