After the COVID-19 pandemic, South African tourism is showing signs of recovery

Following a significant dip in tourist visits in 2020 and 2021, the amount of visitor arrivals in South Africa is improving. According to Statistics South Africa’s Tourism 2022 report, the number of tourists plummeted by 72.6% from 10 228 593 in 2019 to 2 802 320 in 2020, and by 19.5% between 2020 and 2021. The number of tourists arriving climbed by 152,6% from 2 255 699 in 2021 to 5 698 062 in 2022. The number of tourist visitors increased gradually from January to December 2022, however it is still 44,3% lower than the pre-pandemic year of 2019 read more

Shoprite is now open at Centurion Mall!

Families are in for a treat at Centurion Mall with the family-friendly activities and entertainment. Now there is a fresh activity for travellers waiting for late night flights out of OR Tambo

To beat the blues of hanging around the airport, Ebiking Africa (www.e-biking.co.za) is offering travellers the option of a guided tour where they are shown how to ride an e-Bike and then guided through Pretoria’s Groenkloof Nature Reserve.

The exhilarating two- to three-hour experience can be customised according to their flight time so that they arrive at the airport at least three hours before their flight.

There are eight wide-body flights that leave Johannesburg at 22h00 or later.

Groenkloof Nature Reserve is three minutes off the Johannesburg-Pretoria highway and 30 minutes from OR Tambo International Airport.

The small guided tour is for a minimum of two and a maximum of six people.

Late flights out of Johannesburg include United, Delta, KLM, El Al, British Airways, Emirates, Qantas and Ethiopian. Late out of Cape Town are Delta, KLM, BA and United.

The cost of the experience includes the e-Bikes, guide, helmets and wet-weather gear and park entrance fees is R1 650 per person.

Ebiking Africa also operates daily scheduled tours at 9:30am. Afternoon tours are customised by arrangement.
